Welcome back Gauchos! We hope week 1 treats all of you well. This quarter we will be continuing our Finance Friday Series. We are proud to present the guest speaker for our first session this quarter — Arnold Miyamoto. Mr. Miyamoto has nearly thirty years’ experience in the financial services industry. Prior to his retirement, Arnold was Managing Director and Global Head of the Multi-Asset Group division, as well as, Global Head of the Markets Quantitative Analysis division at Citi Global Markets.
Prior to joining Citi, Mr. Miyamoto was Global Head of Non-Credit Research at Bank of America Securities Global Markets. He previously directed foreign currency research and product development at TSA Capital Management, an institutional money manager specializing in quantitative asset allocation strategies; and also worked at Leland O’Brien Rubinstein Associates, a pioneer in the application of derivative strategies in asset management.
Arnold has been the lead author of more than eighty articles spanning portfolio construction and management, quantitative trading strategies, foreign currency risk management and corporate risk management. He has served on the advisory boards to the Masters in Financial Engineering programs at UC Berkeley and UCLA, as well as, the advisory board to the Masters and PhD programs at the Center for Research in Financial Mathematics and Statistics at UC Santa Barbara. Arnold has also served on non-profit boards and has been the chair of their endowment funds. Mr. Miyamoto holds a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He also holds an M.B.A. from UCLA where he was a Finance Fellow.
