I am writing to you today to echo Chancellor Yang’s profound concern about this week’s announcement regarding requirements for international students for fall instruction. As you likely know, several universities, including the University of California, have filed lawsuits to stop the rules from going into effect. While there is much uncertainty about how all of this will evolve, we want you to know that the Department of Economics stands in support of our international students. While for the moment we must wait to see how things unfold, we want you to know that we will work hard to help find solutions as the landscape becomes more clear.
I will send more information as it becomes available. In the meantime, please take care of yourselves and those around you. Stay safe and be well.
