Research Assistants (Temporary Full-Time)

Company Description

Robert D. Niehaus, Inc., is an economic and public policy consulting firm established in 1983 in Santa Barbara, California. The firm specializes in analysis of real estate markets, military housing, water resources, environmental resources, industry economics, and community socioeconomic issues. Our clients are the United States Armed Services, other Federal agencies, state and local governments, and investor-owned utilities. We are seeking part-time/full-time Research Assistants.

Our staff consists of a dozen professionals with training and experience in economics, public policy, applied research, and government. We develop in our professional staff valuable expertise and skills in applied economic analysis, real estate market research, technical and proposal writing, contract administration, verbal presentation, and interaction with clients. Because we are a small business, our personnel are responsible for a variety of tasks, and we encourage development of broad research and business skills.

Duties and Responsibilities – Research Assistant

Duties will include market research via telephone interviews (no telephone sales) and internet searches; data entry, data quality assurance review, and database management.

Research Assistants will work predominately on a newly acquired U.S. Department of Defense contract, assisting one of four regional data managers to collect, verify and record real estate market data.  The position requires a commitment of between 30 to 40 hours a week from April to August (company is flexible with start time due to our quarter system).

Qualifications

A successful candidate possesses the following characteristics:

·         Degree in fields relevant to the focus of our work, particularly economics, business, government, mathematics, statistics, and accounting (juniors or seniors studying Economics or Political Science may apply as well)

·         Demonstrated excellent academic record

·         Good communication skills

·         Substantial experience with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and other software.

Compensation
