The “Tax Intern” program starts approximately the second week of February 2016 and may extend through April 15, 2016, or until the returns are complete. We will know better about the first week of April when the internship will be completed. If anyone is interested I ask you contact me as soon as possible by send an e-mail with their resume and unofficial transcripts. The interns are required to work at least 20 hours per week, but we allow an increase in this minimum hours if the intern is able to handle an increased workweek, and depending on our workload. We encourage a consistent weekly work schedule, for example eight hours on Monday, four hours each on Tuesday through Thursday afternoon, Saturday work maybe available starting in March 2016. If an internship is offered we will request a proposed weekly work schedule from each intern. The proposed work schedule should not include any Saturday hours. We request your work schedule contain workdays which are no less than 4 hours per day and must be between our “core business hours” of 8am – 6pm.

There will two Saturday “training session,” eight (8) hours each day in the beginning of February 2016 on Lacerte tax software and the use of Adobe Acrobat in a paperless environment. The dates for these two Saturdays will be February 6 and 13, 2016. These training sessions are mandatory.

The hourly pay rate is $12 per hour, with overtime paid at 1 1/2 times the hourly rate (overtime is not guaranteed). Interns would be an “at will” temporary employee. As a temporary employee, interns will not receive any fringe benefits, such as medical insurance, pension benefits, holiday pay or vacation pay.

We require all interns to complete a W-4 for 2016 and request each individual provide us with a driver’s license and social security card (or valid passport) prior to beginning work.

We usually make our selection of the interns sometime during the last week of January. We may require candidates to come to our office for a brief interview prior to the selection process. This will give individuals a chance to locate our office and understand what their commute will be during the internship.

I hope this helps answer any questions anyone may have. If any candidate is interested in being considered for this upcoming internship, please, respond to this e-mai:RickH@ssbp.com]
