Last 2 SBP classes for the quarter!

There are only 2 more SBP courses available for enrollment this quarter.  Don’t miss out on these very unique classes.  Enrollment is via the UCSB Extension website, or click on the class titles.

X430.10 – Business and Financial Fraud (Ethics)

This course is only held every other year and we had to cut off registration each time. The classes are on Friday, beginning 2/20, at 12:30 pm.  Once again, we have awesome special guests for all three classes:

On February 20, we have Marc Leventhal, Senior Deputy District Attorney with the Ventura County District Attorney, Special Prosecutions Unit, specializing in white collar crime.  Marc will discuss criminal fraud, including various business crimes, etc.  Marc has mesmerized past classes with his real-life stories of sex, drugs, arson, murder plots, weapons . . . and, yes, accounting.  Marc is an awesome speaker . . .

On February 27, our guest is Anand Khemlani, manager in Ernst & Young LLP’s Fraud Investigation & Dispute Services practice.  Anand’s areas of focus include dispute advisory services, fraud and forensic accounting, and corporate internal investigations.  He tells me he has an interactive session planned where he will discuss engagements he’s work on, discuss EY’s FIDS practice, etc., and answer student questions.  Although this is the first time Anand has presented to my class, I understand his presentation has been extremely well-received by students at other schools.

On March 6, we finish up with Mark Morze.  Mark is the former CFO at ZZZZ Best Carpets who went to federal prison for five years after committing a massive financial fraud on behalf of ZZZZ Best (one of the largest financial frauds prior to the Enron/WorldCom era).  He is someone that you need to see in personHis stories are unbelievable.  If you’re going into accounting or business, you definitely will want to hear what he has to say.  It could save you a trip to jail.  One of the most entertaining and interesting speakers you will ever see (in or out of the program).
