Business Communications and Etiquette
Instructors: Kelly Bedard, Cynthia Benelli, and Joan Giovannone
Communication is fundamental to success in almost all professional endeavors. This course will cover a wide-range of topics related to business communication and etiquette. In particular, students will learn communication strategies relevant for interactions with: colleagues, employees, partners, and business clients. In addition, students will learn and practice proper business etiquette. Topics include:
- Written communication
- Face to face communication
- Telephone etiquette
- Office social norms
- Appropriate attire
- Dining etiquette
Class meetings: Monday, April 30 5:00 – 8:00 pm; Wednesday, May 2 5:00 – 8:00pm and Friday May 4 2:00 – 5:00pm
Business and Financial Fraud
Instructor: Doug Kulper
This course provides a detailed look at fraud, focusing on business and financial fraud cases. Through lectures, guest presentations, class discussions and relevant video, students will have, among other things, a deeper understanding of fraud, increased professional skepticism, recognize the ways that businesses “cook the books,” as well as a better understanding of what “red flags” to look for in the business world. Topics may include discussions of Enron, WorldCom, Madoff, Lehman Brothers, Tyco, ZZZZ Best Company and other scandals.
