CalCPA Scholarship – due June 30, 2014

The CalCPA Channel Counties Chapter is offering a scholarship ranging from $500 – $2500. Eligibility requirements are as follows:

  • Must have a 3.0 or above in all college level accounting courses and 3.0 or above in all college course work completed in the 2013-2014 academic year.
  • Be enrolled in a college or university accounting program in the Santa Barbara or Ventura counties.
  • Be a member of CalCPA. Membership is free for students and you can register online at www.calcpa.org/join or complete the membership portion of the attached scholarship application.

Scholarship applications are due by June 30, 2014. A completed application includes: Two letters of recommendation (at least one from a professor and one from a work related individual if applicable), a written essay (Max 250 words), signed declaration attesting to eligibility, copy of transcript and a resume. Applications are attached to this email.

CalCPA Scholarship

CalCPA_CMYK_4CAs in prior years, the Channel Counties Chapter of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA) will be awarding scholarships to deserving students.  The Chapter’s purpose in awarding the scholarships is to recognize accounting students and faculty and introduce them to the Channel Counties Chapter and CalCPA.

We anticipate that the scholarship award amounts will vary between $500 and $2,000 this year.

Applicants may access the application form at 2013 Channel Counties Chapter Scholarship Application.

Students eligible for the Channel Counties Chapter scholarship are those who are planning to become a CPA and are currently enrolled in (1) an accounting program at a four-year university or college in Ventura or Santa Barbara County; or (2) a community college in Ventura or Santa Barbara County and transferring to a four-year university or college; or (3) an extension curriculum in Ventura or Santa Barbara County with 20 units completed and enrolled in the certificate of accounting program.  In addition, students must possess a GPA of 3.0 or above in all college level accounting courses and a 3.0 GPA in all college level course work completed in the 2012-13 academic year.

Completed applications should be e-mailed, mailed or faxed by October 25, 2013.

We will present the scholarships at our dinner meeting on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Santa Barbara Yacht Club in Santa Barbara.

The UCSB Alumni Legacy Scholarship

Do You Have A Gaucho Graduate In Your Family? You may be eligible to apply for The UCSB Alumni Legacy Scholarship (complete application).

The UCSB Alumni Legacy Scholarship was created by the UCSB Alumni Association Board of Directors and is funded by members of the UCSB Alumni Association through membership fees.

The Scholarship is awarded to current UCSB students who are related to a UCSB graduate.  Undergraduate students who receive this $1000 scholarship must demonstrate a commitment to the excellence of UCSB and the community through academic achievements, leadership and involvement in campus clubs and organizations. The UCSB Alumni Legacy Scholarship is a non-renewable scholarship, but recipients can reapply in future academic years, as long as they meet eligibility.
ELIGIBILITY
To be considered for the UCSB Alumni Scholarship, students must:
1. be a currently enrolled full-time (12 unit minimum) UC Santa Barbara student;
2. have completed 12 academic quarter units from UCSB but no more than 135
academic units by November 25, 2013.
3. have favorable academic merit of above 2.4.
4. be related to a UCSB alumnus/a who has completed 12.0 or more units.
5. demonstrate service to UCSB through campus involvement in clubs and/or other
campus volunteerism/extracurricular activity.

APPLICATION
The UCSB Alumni Legacy Scholarship Application must be completed, including a 250 word
personal statement and 2 reference letters, by November 25, 2013.

The Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance (formerly known as the American Society of Women Accountants) was organized by the American Women’s Society of CPA’s to further the advancement of women in accounting. The organization has several membership categories and admits members who are accounting students, bookkeepers, CPA’s, and anyone else interested in the fields of accounting and finance as a career. Each year the Santa Barbara Chapter awards scholarships to students pursuing a major course in accounting and attending a college, university or professional school in Santa Barbara County, with individual scholarships ranging from $250 to $1,500.

The Santa Barbara Chapter of the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance is currently accepting applications for its 2013 Scholarships. The criteria are as follows:

1.   Santa Barbara residents and persons attending colleges, universities or professional schools of accounting in Santa Barbara County and pursuing a major course in accounting.

2.    Applicants must have taken at least basic courses of accounting to show aptitude and intention to pursue an accounting career.

3.   Applicants are given consideration based on academic achievement and/or financial need.

We are nondiscriminatory (male applicants are welcome).
