I am writing on behalf of Arts for Humanity!, a local arts outreach organization that serves at risk youth, people with disabilities, and seniors through programs in the visual and performing arts. Our Internship Program trains the next generation of community leaders and artists by providing exciting one of a kind opportunities to Santa Barbara youth (high school and college students). Contributing their time and energy, our student interns are invaluable to the community service work of Arts for Humanity!.
Interns assist Arts for Humanity! in many ways, as teachers, artists, performers, photographers, videographers, and with development, outreach, PR, and marketing, These special students enrich themselves while changing the lives of others. Attached are documents about the local non profit agencies we serve and the many opportunities available.
Arts for Humanity!’s Internship Program in conjunction with our Community Expressive Arts Program provides opportunities that allow people from diverse backgrounds and abilities to join together through education, artistic activities, events, and performances. Arts for Humanity! interns gain invaluable hands-on teaching experience in their given art form while getting to know our various constituencies. This experience serves to cultivate compassion while expanding your world view, and in turn, our groups benefit tremendously from these inclusive, uplifting experiences.
Arts for Humanity! internships provide community service hours as well as academic credit when applicable, and are typically unpaid. Supplies are provided and travel expenses covered – and there are opportunities for community exhibits. This is also a great way to develop your resume. Internships include on-site or group training with Karsen Lee Gould, MA, CDT, creative/executive director of Arts for Humanity!.
